Laguna Beach High School Walking 4 Water Club Walk-a-Thon for Wells
Join us to Walk for Water on Saturday, April 19, on the LBHS track. This annual walk-a-thon is a 100% student-led event as part of the Walking for Water Club at Lagina Beach High School.
The Walk raises money to install vital hand-pump wells in villages and areas that do not have access to clean water. According to water.org, women and children spend an estimated 200 million hours each day collecting water. Wisdom Spring, the 501(c)3 that supports the Walking for Water (W4W) Clubs, has installed 55 wells in Africa and India.
CLUB OUTCOMES With 70% of Gen Z ranking climate change as the most pressing social issue, and with only 37% of Gen Z reporting that their schools effectively prepare them to be active citizens, the Walking for Water (W4W) clubs provide a valuable opportunity for students to contribute to meaningful change.
As the Club members design their Walk, they learn to work within a group, find the leadership roles that "fit," and develop skills like accountability and resistance while creating a platform for real change.
WISDOM SPRING Wisdom Spring is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has a dual mission: to provide water to communities in need and to empower students through Walking for Water (W4W) social impact clubs.
