The Kahuna Cares foundation prouldly presents our Concert for a Cause Perfomances by COMMONSENSE, YACHTY BY NATURE and THE WELFARES.
Kahuna Concert for a Cause raises money for those with special needs. In doing so we also pay tribute to the late Terry “Tubesteak” Tracy who sparked the inspiration for the role of the Big Kahuna in the Gidget movie craze. “Tubesteak” has been featured in Nike commercials, California Cooler Advertisements, many news, and TV appearances; he was also featured in the Smithsonian Institute in New York for his surfing legacy.
Terry “Tubesteak” Tracy was a father of seven and married to his wife Phyllis for 53 years. When “Tubesteak” passed away, I wanted to honor my dad in a way that would make him proud. So, I started the charity Kahuna Cares Foundation. My dad loved gatherings and having everyone together so with him in mind, “KAHUNA CONCERT FOR A CAUSE” was born. Myself, along with four of my closest friends, run the operations of the Kahuna Cares Foundation with the strong belief of giving back to the special needs community.
The Kahuna Cares Foundation was created to honor his legacy of love for many different organizations that help our special needs community.
These are the organizations that will benefit from your participation in this event.
Surfers Healing: The original surf camp for children with autism, along with many local pro surfers, share their love and talent for the sport of surfing for thousands of children with special needs every year.
The Bass Shed Academy: Provides quarterly workshops for Bass Guitar, Double Bass and music appreciation to specifically connect with the special needs community. Workshops are provided at no cost to the attendees.
Together As One: Based out of San Clemente, California, they bridge the gap between those affected by autism and the general population by providing resources and programs to encourage inclusion with the special needs community. Together As One has provided services to over 650 families thus far.
ATP San Juan Capistrano: The Adult Transition Program combines classes and community experiences to help students who received a High School Certificate, ages 18 through 22 with various developmental disabilities learn the skills necessary for a more productive independent life.
